What is JEE ADVANCED?
To get into the top engineering colleges of the country one needs to clear both the entrance exam JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Only those students who are able to clear JEE Main cut-off are eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced exam. It is a Computer Based Exam and is conducted by the 7 IITs namely IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Roorkee, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, and IIT Guwahati on a rotational basis. As per the expectation, JEE Advanced 2024 would be conducted by IIT Madras.

The official notification for JEE Advanced 2024 has been released by IIT Madras. JEE Advanced 2024 is expected to be held on the last week of May, that is May 26, 2024.

The JEE Advanced 2024 would consist of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2, the papers would be carried out in two shifts. Both shifts will be held on the same day. For the students to be eligible for the merit list, it is mandatory to appear for both papers. Based on marks scored and rank secured in the JEE Advanced examination candidates are granted admission to various undergraduate courses, Master’s and dual degree programs offered by IIT.

JEE Advanced 2024 Eligibility Criteria
It is mandatory for the students to meet the specific eligibility criteria established by the exam conducting authority in order to appear for JEE Advanced 2024. Any candidate failing to adhere to the eligibility criteria would not be qualified to appear for the JEE Advanced exam. To be on the safer side candidates are advised to read the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced carefully and have a thorough check of the application form before submitting it, to avoid any discrepancies in the future.
Criterion 1 (Performance in JEE (Main) 2024):
Top 2,50,000 candidates (including all categories) in JEE (Main) 2024 are eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced).

Criterion 2 Number of attempts:
A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of 2 times in 2 consecutive years.
Criterion 3 Age Limit:
Candidates born on or after October 1, 1999, are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2024 exam. However, candidates belonging to SC, ST, or PwD get 5 years of relaxation.
Criterion 4 Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination:
Candidates who passed Class 12 in 2023 or 2024 are eligible for JEE Advanced 2024.
Candidates who had appeared in Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2022 or earlier, are NOT eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2024, irrespective of the combination of subjects attempted/offered.
JEE Advanced 2024 Application Form and Registration Process
Once the JEE Main Results are declared the conducting authority for JEE Advanced releases the application form. For the year 2024, IIT Madras will be in charge of conducting the JEE
Advanced paper and they would be releasing the application form. In order to fill out the application form, the student must first register on the official website. Candidates have to submit the form online and deposit the application fees along with the form itself. Out of all the JEE Main candidates, only the top 2.50 lakh candidates would be eligible for the IIT JEE Advanced exam.
To submit the JEE Advanced application form successfully follow the steps given:
Step-1: Login & Fill Details
- Visit Official Website and Login
- Visit JEE Advanced official website. Click on: https://jeeadv.ac.in/.
- You will see the login portal of JEE Advanced.
- Enter the JEE Main 2024 Roll Number, Password, and Security Pin and submit it.
- Candidates have to select a new password for JEE Advanced
- Fill Details
- Once you provide the new password, a new page will be displayed. Candidates will find all the details that they entered during JEE Main registration.
- Enter the number of attempts.
- Candidates can choose 3 examination cities as per their preferences.
- Select the language of the question paper (English or Hindi).
- Mention the category & scribe status.
- Carefully check the entered data and click on submit.
Step-2: Upload Scanned Images
Students must keep the given below documents ready to upload during the application process:

- Go through the upload images option.
- Select the required images.
- Carefully upload images one at a time.
Step-3: Registration Fee Payment
Once the documents have been uploaded, candidates need to pay the registration fee. Follow the steps for easy payment:
- Online Mode:
- Candidates can pay the application fee through various online payment methods like net banking, debit/credit card, etc.
- Select the “Pay Registration Fee” option.
- The Multi-Option Payment System (MOPS) page will appear on the screen.
- Enter the payment details and pay the application fee.
- Offline Mode:
- Select the “Pay Registration Fee” link.
- Select the SBI Branch for cash payment. Take the printout of the e-challan generated by the system.
- Submit the printed e-challan to the SBI branch near you, along with the fee.
After the transaction process is over, students can take the printout of the application form. It is advisable to keep the 2-3 extra printouts with you for future use. However, students need not send any hard copy to the conducting body.
JEE Advanced 2024 Registration Fees
Foreign Nationals:

Indian Nationals:
- General Category Candidates: INR 2,800/-
- Female Candidates: INR 1,400/-

JEE Advanced 2024 Admit Card
JEE Advanced admit card would be released by IIT Madras at jeeadv.ac.in. Admit cards would be released only for those candidates who would have successfully registered for the JEE Advanced exam before the last date. To download the admit card the candidates would require to login into the portal using their registration number, date of birth, and mobile number.
JEE Advanced 2024 Exam Pattern
The below-given table shows the exam pattern for JEE Advanced 2024, however, the number of questions in JEE Advanced paper may vary every year.

JEE Advanced 2024 Marking Scheme
For questions with one or more correct options, the marking scheme is as follows:
- If responses are correct, +4.
- For partially correct answer +3, +2, +1 is provided, any incorrect option is not marked.
- In case of incorrect answer -2.
- No negative marking for questions that are not attempted.
Questions with numerical value type answers marking scheme are as follows:
Step-4: Print Application Form
- +3 for correct answer.
- Mode of Examination: It is conducted offline.
- Sections: Geometrical Drawing, Freehand Drawing, Imagination, Aesthetic Sensitivity, Three-Dimensional Perception, Architectural Awareness.
- Exam Duration: 3 hours.Language: English.
- in case of any incorrect answers or questions left unattempted, there would be no negative marking.
Matching list type and single correct option questions marking scheme are as follows
- +3 for a correct answer
- -1 for an incorrect answer
- no negative marking for questions that are not attempted
Like in the case of the JEE Advanced, the AAT pattern is not fixed. Below-given is an outline of the exam pattern as seen in previous year’s exams:
NATIONAL TALENT SEARCH EXAMINATION
The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is a National Level scholarship program in India to identify and nurture talented students. It honours and helps talented students by providing financial assistance in the form of a monthly scholarship for the entire Academic Career. Students studying in Class X are eligible to appear for the selection process. As it is organized by an official body (NCERT), it is widely regarded as the most prestigious examination at high school level in India. For more details of NTSE, students can visit www.ncert.nic.in. There is a two-stage selection process for award of scholarship. For Stage – I, selection will be done by States/UTs and those who qualify Stage – I will be eligible to appear for Stage – II examination conducted by NCERT.
Why should I appear in NTSE?
NTSE is one of the oldest and most prestigious scholarship exams in India. An NTSE scholar commands tremendous respect in the society. Around 1000 NTSE Scholars are finally awarded scholarships based on Stage – II. It honours and helps talented students by providing financial assistance in the form of a monthly scholarship. The scholarships under the present scheme are awarded to the candidates for pursuing courses in sciences and social sciences up to doctoral level and in professional courses like medicine and engineering up to second-degree level subject to the fulfillment of the conditions. The Pattern of Written Examination:
Stage – I Examination at the State / UT level will comprise two parts, namely (a) Mental Ability Test (MAT), (b) Language Test (LT) and (c) Scholastic Ability Test (SAT)
When & How do I prepare for NTSE:
The recent announcement by NCERT to change the eligibility to appear in National Talent Search Exam (NTSE) now allows students who are currently in class X to compete in this exam. Student should focus on clearing their fundamentals and attempting a lot of practice tests.
